Skirt Chaser 5k Pumps Added Adrenaline

I have never felt so much adrenaline right off the bat as I did in the Skirt Chaser 5k. The race took off from Sports Authority Field at Mile High Saturday evening. Ladies started the race and three minutes later the guys took off. Let the chase begin!

Of course, in my wildest dreams my shoes would scurry across the finish line before the boys caught up. In an attainable dream, I wanted to make it the one mile mark before one of the tough guys passed me. Didn’t happen…but it sure made me push harder. Plus, I figured my new Wonder Dress compliments of Skirt Sports would give me the need for speed!

Following the finsh was one heckuva expo! Local food companies such as LOVE burritos, Justin’s Nut Butter, Rush Bowls, White Girl Salsa and Sosi’s Dips all sampled fabulous made from scratch products. Avery Beer also provided two brews to each participant that was 21 plus. Other vendors sported deals on everything from innovative water bottles and stylish running belts to hold essential items while you are on the pavement. Plus, ‘That 80’s band,’ rocked the house down long after our heart rates came down from the chase.

DONE!

The Mile High City will soon be able to etch another mud obstacle run into the books. The Merrell Down and Dirty National Mud and Obstacle Series presented by Subaru is making a stop at the Aurora Sports Park this coming Sunday. Event organizers expect a turnout of about 1,500 people ready to brave the elements. Those throwing on racing jerseys can expect to run, crawl and climb through military style obstacles. “Adventure style races have become a fitness revolution. People constantly want to change up their workouts and use different muscles,” says Marketing Coordinator, Suzie Davis.

It’s your choice to sign up for either the 5k or 10k.  If you are looking for more obstacles the 10k is your style. Make like an inchworm through the low crawl and tunnels. Hold on tight as you cargo climb to the top of an inflatable slide. Navigate through obstacles after throwing a weighted sandbag over your shoulder.

No matter how challenging the obstacles sound they are meant to be fun over intimidating. “It’s great especially if you are trying to break into adventure racing. We aren’t trying to scare anyone away. We are an event that anyone can do.” says Administrator of Athlete Services, Erica Taylor.

It’s also a family friendly event! Kiddo’s ages 4-6 can race in a 100 yard dash and soak through a murky put after.  Kids ages 7-13 can come out for the 1 mile race filled with mini obstacles.

Tips

*Also come prepared for the pre race pulled up contest! The winner receives $110 dollars to merrell.com

*Don’t leave in a rush! After the race is a post race celebration filled with BBQ and music. (Included in registration)

Win 2 Free Flights of Beer from Wit’s End Brewery

One person will win 2 free sample flights of beer

EASY ENTRY

1. Like Catch Carri on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/CatchCarri

2. Leave a reply with your favorite type of beer!

DONE!

About Wits End!

A perk of being a nano brewery is the flexibility to experiment with new batches. Denver’s Wit’s End Brewery is classified as a nano brewery because it operates on a barrel system. Instead of towering barrels the beer is brewed in barrels a fraction of the size.  Wit’s End is proof you don’t need the stealthiest equipment to make some of the best beer in the mile high.

Eager customers at Denver’s Wits End Brewery have a reason to come back with new recipes constantly being tapped. Made fresh to order this month- the Ambition Stout. The coffee brew gives equal attention to coffee as it does beer.

Owner and head brew master of Wits End Brewery, Scott Witsoe, says the beer fits his personality. “I am a coffee guy, from Seattle.” The brewery location also speaks Seattle, located in an industrial park warehouse just off I-25 and 6th Ave. “In Seattle there are lots of underground breweries that aren’t set up in the most obvious places. That seems to be part of the fun,” says Witsoe. Trying to save on costs Witsoe grabbed the space after loosing his job last year.

With less than a six-month turn around to greet Denver, Witsoe barley had time to keep beer in the forefront. One week away from his advertised opening date, Witsoe realized he was lacking three key ingredients- hops, yeast and grains. Overnighting hops and yeast and snapping up grains in state and from the friendly guys at Strange Brewing, he was staying on track, barely. The doors opened just in time to greet the craft beer loving crowds of GABF last fall. “I haven’t even had a second to regret the decision,” says Witsoe.

Witsoe’s passion is paying off with new customers eager to drink his beer and regulars spreading the word. On tap you will find four core beers along with an experimental brew. Witsoe sees the influx of breweries dotting Colorado maps as a reason to celebrate. “We are all unique. We have to hold true to what we do. I make what I find inspiring not because I need a certain product to match other breweries.”
