Denver oozes Halloween spirit. Thousands of people dressed as morbid and gory characters to take the streets of Denver for the 6th annual zombie crawl Saturday. The goal was to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most zombies to gather in one place. New Jersey currently holds the record after 4,093 zombies congregated at a New Jersey Park last year. The event organizer, Daniel Newman estimates that about 12,000 people gathered outside Skyline Park dressed as zombies this year.
The event included a costume contests and make-up artists from the 13th Floor and Asylum Haunted House ready and willing to paint anyone looking for a complete transformation. There was also a massive thriller dance performance and a concert from the Boulder-based Zombie land band.
The event was free but the organizers ask that everyone donate a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank of the Rockies. This is an annual event and it’s never too late to start thinking up costume ideas!
