Pedal Hopper

If you have seen it chances are you have wondered about it. Maybe you are even one that has chased the Pedal Hopper down with your cell phone in hand to grab the phone number on the bike! Nothing to be embarrassed about..I did it too. And good thing because it was one rowdy experience!

The original “Fiets Cafe” was manufactured in Amsterdam where a pub owner came up with the idea to market his establishment. To his bewilderment he was soon asked to manufacture them for others and there are now over 100 in Europe. The U.S. is a little behind on the fun—here there are about 20. And Denver is lucky enough to get it’s hands on one, and due to demand another is in route!

The Pedal Hopper has seen incredible success. CO-owner Grant Barnes says they are turning away business due to volume. And how could they not be? Denver is the perfect city for such a contraption and offers some incredible routes. You can choose to ride from:

-Historic Baker neighborhood, South Broadway, to West Wash Park

-Uptown to Colfax Area

-Lodo Area

-Cherry Creek

-Platte Park &  S. Pearl Street

The Pedal Hopper does not limit itself to these neighborhood bars. If you have a book club, bachelorette party , birthday party and are looking for something different the Pedal Hopper will customize a route with you.

The 16 passenger bike gets up to speeds between 5 and 8 miles per hour. It has been compared to a party bus but this one is entirely powered by those on board. A driver/guide is present to steer and break and more importantly rattle the trolley bell on board to orchestrate cheering and toasting along the way.

Here’s the cost to rent one of Pedal Hopper’s original European Bar Cycles:

Friday or Saturday: $180 an hour

Sunday – Thursday $160 an hour

Comes out to just over $20 dollars per person!!/pages/Pedal-Hopper-Denver/120939231315726
